Reading for pleasure at Altrincham College
"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Dr. Seuss
Reading is not just a worthwhile way to spend our time. Research shows that it has important and far-reaching benefits which go beyond a love of a good book. When children and young people enjoy reading, they are more likely to create a habit and read more often which in turn will help to build vital reading skills and bring with it a much wider range of benefits.
Altrincham College offers a school community which prides itself on fostering a love of reading. Even, before students arrive at Altrincham College, they will be encouraged to take part in our ‘Summer Reading Challenge.’
On arrival to our school in Year 7, the booklets are submitted to the students’ form teachers and shared with Mrs Casey. Every completed booklet will gain you 10 Reading points on Class charts and the best booklets will win a prize during their first Year 7 Assembly!
