Year 9

Year 9

Careers is a big focus in the Year 9 pastoral programme as Year 9 marks the end of Key Stage 3 with students picking what non-core subjects, they wish to study at Key Stage 4. Students are guided by staff about which subjects they want to study. Our careers advisors also work with Year 9 students on advising them on subject choices. Students have assemblies from subject teachers during the spring term about the subjects available to them before submitting their options forms at around Easter time.

As well as careers discussions during form time, students have other assemblies throughout the year covering a variety of topics. They also hold discussions in form time about current affairs and news stories which gets students working together and at the start of each week, have a session that allows students to get prepared, ready for the week ahead with the focus of the three Rs (Respect, Responsibility, Ready to Learn).

The programme allows students to build up new and key skills for life such as independence and to develop into mature young people.
