In-Year Admissions

Application Guidance

In-Year Admissions

Parents of children who are already of Secondary School age and wish to transfer to Altrincham college must apply directly to the school, using the in-year transfer application form.

Please note this application form is for in year transfer admission for Years 7 – 11 only.

Altrincham College's in-year application portal will re-open on 1st July. Between 1st and 10th July, all applications received during COVID school closure and by 10th July will be processed in accordance with the 2020 admissions policy and the oversubscription criteria detailed within that. This policy will be used since any places offered will only be allocated for admission in 2020.

Any in-year applications received by 10th July will be processed and parents/carers will be advised by email of the outcome of their application before 17th July.

Where no place is available, you will be invited to join a waiting list and do have the right to appeal the decision. More guidance on in-year appeals can be found further down this page.

For applications to the Sixth Form, please contact the Head of Sixth Form: Mr A Keegan

Please read and familiarise yourself with the following In-Year Transfer Information before making your application:
  • Make sure you provide all information requested on the form and that this information is factually correct.

Parents have been known to give a false address in an attempt to improve their chances of getting a place. Please note that any offer made will be withdrawn if it is found that parents or carers have given false information.

  • Applications for an In-Year Transfer will normally be processed within 10 school days of receipt.
  • As its own admission authority, the school will consider applications in strict accordance with the relevant published admissions policy.
  • Altrincham College is currently full in all year groups and over-subscribed (i.e. there is a waiting list of applicants for each year group).
  • Where no place is available, you will be notified of this in writing and your child's name will be added to the waiting list for the relevant year group (that is, the one which corresponds to their date of birth, at the time of your application).
  • Waiting lists are ranked in accordance with our published over subscription criteria (details of which can be found in the relevant admissions policy).
  • Waiting lists are not ranked by 'time served'. Priority will not be given to children based on the date their application was received or when their name was added to the list.
  • Where a vacancy is available, and your child's name is first on the waiting list for the relevant year group, Mrs N Eastwood will write with a letter (to your home address) offering your child the place.

Please note: once you have received this offer letter you must contact the Admissions Department at school confirm you accept the offer and discuss a suitable start date. Paperwork for enrolment will then be sent to you in a "Welcome Pack".

Once you have read the above In-Year Transfer information, and are satisfied with our Admissions Policy, we invite you to download our In-Year Transfer Application Form that can be found at the bottom of this page.

Once this is completed, please return it either by post or as an e-mail attachment to:
