Welcome to the Altrincham College of Arts website.

Our status as a Specialist School has enabled us to continue raising our academic standards, not only in creative areas, but across all areas of the curriculum. We genuinely offer a broad and balanced curriculum that caters for all abilities and interests.

We welcome all children from our local community. We do not operate selection procedures. High fliers are well catered for and achieve excellent results. In 2006 52% of pupils left with 5 or more A*-C GCSE passes and 100% consistently, successfully complete GCSE courses. 40% of students achieved 5 or more A*-C passes, including an A*-C in English and Mathematics. This statistic is the new government benchmark for schools and we advise all prospective parents to be aware of this figure in comparison to other Secondary High Schools being considered.

Results have been on a very significant upward trend since 2000 and for the past two years Altrincham College has been named as a ‘High Performing Specialist School’ and has been placed in the top 10% of all schools nationally for pupil progress made from entry in year 7 through to year 11 examination results (ontextualised Value Added KS2-4 2004 Top 5%, 2005 Top 8%).

These high standards are also evident in the caring and
disciplined environment that is a feature of our daily life.
The most recent Ofsted inspection praised the school and said:

‘This is a very good school that caters particularly well for its pupils. An outstanding team spirit welds its staff and pupils so there is a clear unity of purpose in a very good learning atmosphere. Excellent leadership underlies the very good provision that cherishes individuals equally and has high expectations of each one’. The provision for pupils’ welfare and general education is excellent.

We are oversubscribed each year. You should make early and definite application through the Trafford Secondary School Preference Form or the Preference Form for your local LEA, if your child is to be considered for a place at Altrincham College of Arts.
