Music Department Concert Tour to Belgium

Music Department Concert Tour to Belgium

Music Department Concert Tour to Belgium

After our highly successful concert tour in Germany, the Music Department ran a second tour to Belgium. We encouraged students who sing or play a musical instrument (or is signing up to start playing an instrument) to attend. The pupils who came on trip had an amazing time, performed brilliant concerts and really improved as performers as a result of being involved in the tour.

The itinerary for the trip was as follows.

Day One:
Departed from school for journey by coach and ferry (late afternoon). Arrived at our hostel, near Brugges.  Afternoon walking or cycling in a local forest park and rehearsed at the hostel.
Day Two:
Performed our first concert in one of the beautiful squares that are a feature of the architecturally stunning town of Brugges. After this we went on a boat trip along the local canals and also went to see some of the famous Belgian chocolate being made. There were opportunities to taste and buy! After a little tine to explore we then went down to spend a few hours on the beach at the seaside town of Ostende.
Day Three:
We travelled over the border into Holland for concert number two in the bandstand at the fantastic Die Efteling theme park. After we performed we spent the rest of the day enjoying the rides and attractions at the theme park. Later in the evening we had a party, evening talent show and prize giving at the open air theatre at our hostel.
Day Four:
A half day exploring, shopping for some gifts and relaxing in the beautiful town of Ghent before returning home to the UK in the evening.

Below is some feedback that we have had about this fantastic trip:

"The warm feeling of community and optimism was so refreshing. Everyone here is very talented and it makes me happy to be surrounded with people like this."

"Personally my favourite musical moment was creating a band with my three best mates  (in a few years we’ll be platinum) and enjoying playing with the whole group."

"Everyone worked together really well in all the pieces and all encouraged each other when performing which helps lift the mood even more. Everyone was included."
