Preparation for a 'Tier 2' lockdown

Tier 2 lockdown: school's preparations

Dear Parents, Carers and Students

School Preparations in the Event of Further Lockdown

I am writing to update you on the latest guidance schools have received regarding next steps, should the Covid infection rates continue to rise. The guidance sets out a 4 tier plan for all schools and I think it is important that the whole school community is aware of the contingencies we are putting in place:

Tier 1

Trafford are currently in ‘Tier 1’ i.e. there is a local lockdown. All staff and students on the school site are required to wear a face mask in certain places:

  1. Travelling on a school bus or public transport.
  2. Entering or leaving the school site.
  3. Walking around the school site at any time.

Tier 2

Due to the significant increase in positive infection rates, we are now planning for our Tier 2 provision. If we are placed in Tier 2, the Government guidance recommends that Secondary Schools operate a ‘rota’ model for learning, based on two weeks in-school provision, followed by two weeks remote learning. The four-week rota for AC is outlined below:

Week

Rota 1: Years 9, 11 and 12

Rota 2: Years 7, 8, 10 and 13

1

Remote Learning

2

3

4

Tier 3

This tier requires secondary schools to limit on-site attendance to just vulnerable children, the children of critical (‘key’) workers, and selected year groups. We have not yet had detailed information as to how this will operate.

Tier 4

Tier 4 will work similarly to the March-Summer 2020 lockdown, where schools will limit on-site provision to just vulnerable students and the children of critical (‘key’) workers. All provision for the rest of students will be via remote learning.

A full timetable of remote learning will be sent home as soon as a ‘Tier 2’ status is announced.

Please can I take this opportunity to wish you and your families all the best at this trying time.

Yours faithfully
