Headteacher's Bulletin

Friday 7th January 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely break with family and friends this Christmas! The start of term has gone really well with students genuinely pleased to be back!

My assemblies to each year group this week and next, are on the theme of Resilience. Our friend Incy Wincy Spider makes a guest appearance as the role model of resilience! No matter what age, many students have found they remembered that old rhyme and recounting it has brought a smile to faces!

But the message around resilience is a serious one. Our school vision states that we want young people leaving Altrincham College being able to tackle whatever life throws at them and therefore we aim to give students some tools for being resilient. These were discussed in assembly and images of Incy will be dotted around school and in all form rooms to encourage students to practise and remember. Please ask your child about this over the next couple of weeks.

New Members of the AC Community!

We welcome all new students who have started with us this week, some from other countries! I hope you are all enjoying life here at AC and feel part of our school now.

We also welcome Mr Gillan (Head of History) and Mr Mahmood (Head of Business Studies) to our staff body and also Mr Read who is teaching Maths for a term! They have settled in very quickly and students have told me they are enjoying their lessons!

Covid Update

We currently have 5 staff absent with Covid and 19 students. This is relatively low compared with other schools across the country. We continue to recommend face masks in all classrooms, communal areas and on school buses. Please ensure your child brings two clean masks to school each day with a small plastic bag for used ones. We still have not received the supplies of face masks promised by the Government before Christmas and have very few left in school to give out to students.

Your support in this would be greatly appreciated.

Testing kits have been available for collection in school throughout the pandemic and we have plenty of these available in school for your child to bring home. Please ensure your child continues to test twice a week and do not send them into school if they are displaying Covid symptoms.

Beware of this Covid scam!

Thank you to one of our parents, Mrs Place, for bringing this to our attention. It is a scam text message trying to ask you for personal details. Please delete the message if you receive it.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Stay safe!

Thank you for your continued support of our school!
