GCSE Results Day 2022

The wait is over for our Year 11 students!

Students and staff are celebrating today after receiving an excellent set of GCSE results.  This year, the number of students achieving the top grades has increased significantly compared to 2019, with a total of 330 grades at 7-9 across all subjects.  16% of students achieved a grade 7 or above in English and Maths, which is a 10.4% increase compared to 2019.  53% of students achieved grades 9-5 in English and Maths, and 71% achieved grades 9-4 in English and Maths, which yet again has surpassed previous national averages.

Headteacher Kim Earle praised the success of this year’s GCSE students, commenting, “We are delighted with our Key Stage 4 results. In spite of all that they have been through over the past 3 years, our students’ resilience and determination to succeed has paid off.  They have worked extremely hard to get these results.”

Ms Earle also extended her praise to staff at Altrincham College, who have ensured  students reached their potential through quality teaching, which is reflected in today's results.

Congratulations to all those staying on to our Sixth Form as we welcome the ever-increasing number who will be joining us, such as student Holly who achieved 7 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s, and will study A Levels in Biology, Business and Psychology.  Similarly, high-achieving student Nils, who attained 5 GCSEs at the highest grade 9, is continuing his education at Altrincham College Sixth Form to study A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Geography.  When student Daniel realised he had achieved a fantastic 7 GCSEs at grades 7-9, he said, “I am very happy. I have worked very hard for this, and it has paid off!”  Daniel has chosen to study A Levels in Biology, Maths and Geography.

Further  success stories include student Adam, who achieved 6 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s.  He said, “I smashed it! I am feeling very happy!” Student Jago who scored 4 grade 9s and 3 grade 8s said modestly, “I didn’t do too badly…I achieved everything I wanted to and more!”  There were smiles all round from student Alfie who achieved 7 grade 9s and 2 grade 8s.  She said, “I am so happy that I have made everyone proud.”

Ms Earle would especially like to congratulate the following students who have made excellent progress since joining us in Year 7 to Key Stage 4, including: Leah MR, Irene Y, Ben B, Daniel C, Callum B, Jago S, Dylan C, Alfie Wilkinson, Poppy G, Adam B, Evelyn B and Holly S.

We wish every success to students who are leaving Altrincham College to embark on exciting new adventures, such as Poppy who has accepted a football scholarship in Florida, USA at Webber International University.  Poppy said, “I am very excited and I can’t wait to start my journey with a new team and new lifestyle.”  Drama student Dylan, who has accepted a place at Manchester College to study performing arts said, “I am shocked!  Today is a good day and I will celebrate later with a get together with friends.”

If you would like to join our exciting, high-achieving Sixth Form, we still have a few remaining places available.  Any students who have not applied, but would like to take up a place, are very welcome to contact Mrs Brennan, Head of Sixth Form, to discuss course options and availability: kbn@altrinchamcollege.com
