GCSE Results Day 2021

Through unprecedented challenges: GCSE Success at Altrincham College

Students at Altrincham College enjoyed another wonderful set of Key Stage 4 results today!  Alongside the Key Stage 5 results from earlier in the week, the school has been celebrating the hard work of all its young people.

Headteacher Kim Earle said, “Two years of stopping and starting classroom provision, providing high quality remote learning and still maintaining a school sense of community has given us unprecedented challenges throughout the pandemic. What never ceases to amaze me is the resilience and determination of our young people to do the absolute best they can despite everything that is thrown at them!  Our Year 11s have achieved the grades that they have worked so hard for and thoroughly deserve.  Today’s results will open doors to future study and employment and good lives for themselves; as a school we couldn’t want any more for our students.  The vast majority of Y11s, having done so well up to this point, are going on to complete their secondary education in our fabulous Sixth Form and we look forward to welcoming them back in September. Congratulations to all our students and a huge thank you to all our staff.”

79% of students were awarded grades 9-4 in both English and Maths which is a great improvement on the past two years’ results.

Individual success stories include student Terri who achieved eight GCSEs at grade 9 and two 8s!  Terri said, “I am over the moon about my results – they are dream results.  I will look back at my time at Altrincham College with happy memories.”

Mohammed, who gained an impressive six 9s and four 8s was equally thrilled with his results: “I am very happy, and I am looking forward to studying Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A Level so that one day I can study medicine at university.  The pandemic has motivated me further and made me appreciate how hard doctors, nurses and scientists have worked.”

Twins Amelia and Olivia enjoyed double the success, achieving nine 9s, eight grade 8s and three 7s! They said, “we are very happy and relieved!”

Student Adam added that he is “excited and ready for Altrincham College Sixth Form.”  He is looking forward to studying A Levels in Biology, Chemistry and Maths and said, “As hard as these subjects are, I have flourished in them.  I have been stressing so much about my results, but the hard work and effort was all worth it.”

Head girl Sophia is also looking forward to continuing her studies at Altrincham College Sixth Form and is aiming for a career in medicine or as a pharmacist.

Ms Earle would like to give a special mention to those students who have made outstanding progress from when they joined us in Year 7 to Key Stage 4, including: Aidan, Leah, Evie, Ibrahim, Adam, Amina, Robert, Caleb, Mohammed, Isabel, Sam, Millie, Kirsty, Amelia, Olivia, Sienna, Anya, Emelia, Daisy, Eleanor, Maddison, Terri and Evetta.

Students studying vocational subjects such as Creative Digital Media, Child Development and Business and Enterprise also enjoyed many distinction star and distinction grades.
