Our best results ever!
A Level Results Day 2025
Year 13 students at Altrincham College Sixth Form celebrated an outstanding set of A Level and vocational results today. This year more than half of A Level students achieved grades A*-B and the overall pass rate was 99%. 84% of students studying vocational courses achieved the top grades of Distinction*-Distinction, the equivalent of achieving A*-A at A Level, an increase of over 30% from last year. Staff are delighted with their students’ achievements, which are the sixth form’s best results to-date.
Kim Earle, Headteacher and CEO of the Achieve and Learn Trust, said, “I am absolutely thrilled with this set of results. This cohort is slightly smaller than previous years, but results are much higher. This is testament to the hard work of the students and their teachers, the supportive, personalised interventions at subject level, and the small class sizes. Our students have an exciting range of ‘next steps’ ahead, including higher education, degree apprenticeships, careers in the armed forces and employment. We wish them every success in the future.”
Head of Sixth Form Ali Mahmood added, “We are thrilled to celebrate our best-ever Sixth Form results — a reflection of the dedication, talent, and ambition of our students and staff. Our students are stepping into the future with confidence and purpose. Their journeys are just beginning, and we couldn’t be prouder.”
For twins Leo and Phyllis, who achieved an incredible 5 A*s and 4 As between them, there was double the celebration! Phyllis is heading to the University of Manchester to study Neuroscience, whilst her brother Leo has accepted a place at the University of St Andrews to read Chemistry. Phyllis said, “I am really surprised, it was totally unexpected”, whilst Leo added, “I am feeling really happy today and very excited to be going to St Andrew’s”.
Student Freddie has accepted a degree apprenticeship in nuclear engineering at Sellafield and can’t wait to get started. He said, "When I opened my results this morning, I was so relieved that all my hard work paid off."
Further success stories include Jano who achieved A*A*A B and will study Law with Spanish at the University of Nottingham, whilst student Juri has been accepted to study Law at the
University of Manchester. Jano said: “I am so grateful to have spent the past two years at Altrincham College Sixth Form. I’m delighted to say that I will be attending the University of Nottingham to study Law with Spanish, and I couldn’t have achieved this without the incredible support of the sixth form staff.”
Students studying vocational subjects also had a lot to celebrate, particularly our sports students, who all achieved the top Distinction* or Distinction grades. Tom A, who has accepted a degree apprenticeship with the RAF was delighted with his Distinction* grades in Sport. Whilst Rebecca, who achieved an A* in A Level Business and Distinction* Distinction in Fashion, is excited to start her Fashion Design course at Leeds Beckett University. She said: “Today was a big surprise! I am very happy about my results and excited about university. I am a step closer towards my dream of working in the fashion industry.”
As an inclusive sixth form, students with SEND needs also achieved extremely well, and were accepted onto their chosen higher education courses.
