A Level Results Day 2021

Year 13 Students Achieve Outstanding Results!

Today we are celebrating with our Year 13 students who have worked incredibly hard to achieve an outstanding set of A Level and vocational results.  Their hard work, resilience and adaptability has been rewarded and their results are all the more significant considering the disruption that they have experienced due to the pandemic.

Headteacher Kim Earle said: “I am so proud of these amazing young people! They have come through a fragmented two years of study determined to grasp everything on offer to them, both educationally and pastorally, and have now achieved wonderful results! Well done to everyone; we wish you every success as you spread your wings and fly towards the next stage of your lives whether that’s in education, training or employment.  I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the hardworking staff at Altrincham College who have gone over and above again this year! On behalf of the students too, a huge thank you!

Head of Sixth Form, Katy Brennan added, “this year’s cohort have amazed us with their sheer determination and commitment, despite two years of disrupted learning. Students have remained positive, focused, and have adapted well to the many restraints that covid has caused. Their fantastic results only confirm what we already know about this amazing year group.  I wish to congratulate each and every one of them on these well-deserved achievements.”

We wish our students the very best of luck as they embark on their next steps towards a bright and exciting future.  Many of our students have accepted places at university, and between them, they will be studying a wide range of degree courses such as, Psychology, Law, Zoology, English Literature, Sociology, Filmmaking and Environmental Science, to name just a few.  One positive outcome from the pandemic has been to inspire some students to follow careers in the NHS through their studies in parademic science, nursing and biomedical sciences.  Other students are planning gap years or taking up apprenticeship opportunities.

Individual success stories include Fay who achieved Distinction*, A* A* and is heading to Stirling University to read Environmental Science.  Josh and Liam both succeeded in gaining 3 Distinction* grades in their vocational studies;  Josh is taking a gap year and Liam has accepted a place at Leeds Beckett to study filmmaking.  Sian, who scored AAA at A Level said, “I’m feeling very emotional!  I am so happy and I can’t wait to go to Liverpool University!”  Laila, who achieved Distinction*, AB said, “I am super happy with my results and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.”

Other success stories include Matthew, Simmy, Rebecca and Sienna, who all achieved a fantastic AAB at A Level.  Between them, they will study Computer Science at Salford University, Biomedical Sciences at Manchester University, Zoology at Leeds University and Sociology with Social Policy at the University of Sheffield respectively.  Student Simmy said, “The 7-year journey was worth it! And I wouldn’t have done it anywhere else than AC.  I wouldn’t be here today without the support of my amazing teachers.”

We are so very proud of all our students!
