MOVEMBER

Congratulations to all male staff who grew moustaches in order to raise money for the testicular cancer charity. Thank you to everybody who sponsored the staff for their support. We raised £295.

CHILDREN IN NEED

In November 2011 we raised £1,428.20 for Children in Need and the Van Straaten Family.

BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION

In October 2011 we raised £915.75 for the British Heart Foundation.

Each year the British Heart Foundation contact us to see if we will help raise awareness and money for them. They send us skipping ropes and the PE Department organise a full lesson of skipping. Sponsor forms are handed out and each pupil is encouraged to raise a minimum of £5.

TEACHERS TAKE ON THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE

At 3.30 pm on Friday 12 June 2009, 13 members of staff from Altrincham College of Arts, along with three other team members left school in two minibuses bound for Fort William in Scotland. After a brief stopover in a bunkhouse, they set off up Ben Nevis at 7.30 am on Saturday and found it a nice surprise to see snow on the top of the Ben. Spirits were high as they reached the summit and returned to the minibuses just after midday.

The next task was to fill up on food and water and for some, have a quick nap before arriving in the Lakes to begin a very sunny climb up Scafell Pike. The weather made the climb very pleasant and the team reached the top at around 10.30 pm before making the descent in the dark and returning to the vehicles at midnight.

Last stop was Penn-Y-Pass in Snowdonia National Park and at around 4.30 am the ascent of Snowdon began. Many of the team were now suffering from lack of sleep and low energy levels but everyone who attempted all 3 mountains completed the challenge in 24 hours and had a well deserved breakfast at Pete’s Eats in Llanberis to celebrate the fantastic achievement and amount of money raised.

The money raised for Francis House is in excess of £8,000.
