Key Stage 4 Overview
Business Studies is chosen as an option in Year 10 and is studied over two years for the GCSE course. We follow the Edexcel syllabus which introduces students to the theory of starting a business and seeing how businesses grow to become multinational corporations.
Students who study business will also have the opportunity to extend their learning outside the classroom, with all encouraged to join the Business Club.

During Year 10, all students will study Unit 1; Introduction to Small Business covering the following topics:

During Year 11, students will complete their Unit 2 controlled assessment, as well as Unit 3; Building a Business which covers:

All students can expect a variety of activities, such as team working and independent learning. As a department we also emphasise applying knowledge to current affairs and real-life businesses.
Students are encouraged to progress onto the A-Level Business course to continue their studies in this subject.
Another option for our GCSE pupils is the VCert (Vocational Certificate) in Business and Enterprise. This is a level 2 course and the exam board is NCFE. Please see link for more details.
