Key Stage 3 Overview
At Key Stage 3 students have one lesson of RE every 2 weeks. A range of topics are covered which not only develop students’ knowledge and understanding of different religious and world views but also promote their spiritual, moral and cultural development.
|In Year 7 students explore a variety of ideas, rituals, festivals and rites of passage across the principal world religions. They also consider the role that religion plays in society and what it may mean in their own lives.|
|In year 8 students learn about the life and teachings of Jesus including his miracles and parables. Students also explore what is good and what is challenging about being a teen Muslim and Buddhist with a particular focus on the 5 Pillars of Islam and Buddhist meditation.|
|Year 9 students explore key questions which include ‘Is there life after death?’, ‘Why is there suffering? ‘How can we respond to suffering?’, ‘Do we need to prove God’s existence?’ Students examine various responses to these questions including those of the major religions and world views including Humanism.|
