BTEC Creative Digital Media Production

Creative Media Studies in Year 10 & 11

BTEC Creative Digital Media Production

BTECs are vocationally related qualifications, where learners develop knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work-related context. This BTEC course is the equivalent of a GCSE qualification.

In this particular course, learners will be focusing on the following key areas of the Creative Digital Media sector:

  • Advertising

  • Animation

  • Presentation and communication skills

  • Industry sectors and audiences.

This course includes an externally assessed unit; however, primarily it is coursework-based.

Each unit will be graded a Distinction (A), Merit (B) or Pass (C).  The overall grade – that will be calculated at the end of the 2 year course – will be graded the same and will be dependent on individual unit achievements.

Units Covered
Unit 1 - Digital Media Sectors and Audiences: This is an externally assessed unit.
Unit 2 - Planning and Pitching a Digital Media Product
Unit 3 - Digital Moving Image Production: in this unit, learners will produce a stop-motion animation music video.
Unit 5 - Digital Publishing Production: in this unit, learners will develop a printed advertising campaign for a confectionery product and fashion brand.

What can this course lead to?

This course provides a solid foundation for further study at KS5, including Media-based A Levels and BTECs, including the popular Level 3 BTEC in Creative Digital Media Productions at Altrincham College 6th Form. The analytic and technical skills also provide high-level transferable skills, of relevance to a range of other courses.
